TEXT MESSAGES - THEY'LL NEVER CATCH ON
Who could have predicted the dominance of text messaging?. It started as an added extra, more the result of techies tinkering than as part of a marketing drive.. The UK now sends more than 4 billion messges every month. The most texts sent in one day was New Years Day this year - Brits sent 214 million greetings of good cheer. Texting avoids awkward conversations, giving time and space to think of a good response. But there are drawbacks. Sloppy habits mean words are being shortened, adjectives dropped and vowels removed altghr. Still, at this rate 2.3 trillion texts will have been sent in 2010, when revenues from messages will reach £36.9 billion. That should leave network bosses very :-).
