A Touch of Green

If you want to go green ( and not everyone does ) it's not easy, particularly if the vehicle you drive is an essential part of your business. No fully carbon-neutral car or van is available yet. Solutions to overcome all the CO2 emissions problems have not yet been found. However, some companies are making an effort to go as green as they can.

POD, the UK's first green courier, is using a fleet of delivery vans running on either electricity, LPG or a mix of low sulphur Biodiesel. £2m has been invested in alternative energy vehicles. They will have three electric powered Modec delivery vans each with a range of 100 miles on a single charge and another 15 vans which run on LPG.

Another electric vehicle making a name for itself is the Edison van by Smith Electric Vehicles. Based on the Transit, it beats most diesels from 0 - 30. Also it can do 150 miles on one charge and carry 1338kgs. No tax, no London congestion charge and no emissions. It's less than 3.5 tonnes so you don't require a class C licence - Sainsbury's have recently ordered a fleet of them.
