Understanding delivery statuses
Every message you send from VanMan — whether SMS or email — is tracked with a delivery status so you know whether the customer received it.
Status types
Messages progress through these statuses:
- Queued — The message has been submitted and is waiting to be sent.
- Sent — The message has left VanMan's servers and is in transit.
- Delivered — The message has been successfully delivered to the customer's phone or email inbox.
- Opened — The customer has opened the email. This status is only available for email messages.
- Failed — The message could not be delivered. This can happen if the phone number is invalid or the email address does not exist.
- Bounced — The email was rejected by the recipient's mail server, typically due to an invalid or full mailbox.
Delivery statuses update automatically as the message progresses. You do not need to refresh the page — the status badge on the message updates in real time.
Viewing message statuses
Open the job and scroll to the Messages section. Each message shows a status badge next to the timestamp. Click on a message to see the full delivery timeline including when it was sent, delivered, and opened.
If a message shows as Failed, check the customer's phone number or email address for typos. Correct the details on the job and resend the message.
