Running an appraisal from photos
Upload interior photos, run Ask Daz AI, and review the detected items and assessment.
On a job's appraisal tab you can upload interior photos and have AI produce an assessment of the move. Here is how it actually works.
The two drop zones
The tab has two upload areas:
- Interior — photos here are analysed. This is what feeds the AI.
- Exterior & Access — photos here are not analysed for items; they are context for your crew.
Analysis starts automatically when you upload an interior image — you do not have to trigger per-photo detection.
Ask Daz AI
Once you have interior photos, click Ask Daz AI to produce the full assessment. It also fetches Street View and satellite imagery of the addresses automatically, into the same gallery.
Video can be uploaded but is not analysed. Only interior still images are read by the AI. Exterior photos are not analysed for items either.
Reviewing detected items
The Detected Items section lists what the AI found, per photo, grouped by room. Each row has an Item, a Quantity, a Size (S/M/L/XL), and a Condition. You can edit these, add items, or clear them.
Correcting detected items improves your read on the job — it does not change the estimate. The items and the estimate are separate; editing one never touches the other. So fix them for your own accuracy and for the assessment, not in the belief that it re-prices anything.
The full assessment (from Ask Daz AI) renders as cards: type of move, awkward items, owner prep, access per address, and a size estimate. These are inline-editable.
Tutorial: appraise a tricky move from photos
The customer sent interior photos of a cluttered three-bedroom house and you want a read before quoting.
Open the job and go to its appraisal tab (labelled Appraisal or Estimate). Make sure the job is in a status where the tab shows.
Drag the customer's interior photos onto the Interior drop zone. This matters — the Exterior & Access zone does not analyse for items, so photos put there tell you nothing about the load.
Analysis starts as the interior images upload. Once they are in, click Ask Daz AI for the full assessment. It also pulls Street View and satellite of the addresses on its own.
The assessment cards flag the things that blow out a quote — awkward items, stairs, a long carry, owner prep needed. This is what photos are genuinely good for: seeing the difficulty before you send a crew.
Fix any obvious misreads in Detected Items — sizes, quantities. Do this for a truer picture, but know it does not re-price the estimate. The items list is a read, not a bill.
If the customer sent a video, you can attach it for your crew, but the AI will not analyse it. Do not expect it to add to the assessment — only the interior stills do that.
