Tracking time on a job
Use the background timer on the VanMan mobile app to track how long each job takes.
VanMan includes a built-in timer on the mobile app that tracks how long you spend on each job. The timer runs in the background so you can navigate, make calls, and use other apps while it counts.
From the driver day view, tap the job you are about to start.
Tap Start to begin tracking time. The timer appears at the top of the screen and continues running even if you switch to another app or lock your phone.
When the move is finished, return to the job and tap Stop to end the timer. The total time is recorded on the job automatically.
The timer runs in the background on your device. You can open Google Maps for navigation, call the customer, or use any other app without interrupting the timer.
Pausing the timer
While a job is running you can tap Pause and pick a reason — Break, Waiting, Breakdown, or just pause without a reason. Paused time is automatically deducted from the billable total, so crews no longer need to note "take 30 mins off for lunch". While paused, the timer card turns amber and shows "Paused". Tap Resume to continue tracking.
Fixing a wrong start or finish time
Once they are set, the actual start and actual finish times are tappable so you can correct them (enter a 24-hour HH:MM time).
If a finished job's total looks off — very long or very short — the app asks "Does this look right?" and offers to adjust the start time.
If you started a job by accident, tap Undo start to return it to Booked.
Crew on the job
A Crew section lists everyone working the job, each with their own start→finish and live duration. Tap Add crew member to include someone — their time starts from that moment. Tap a member to edit or remove them. These hours flow into the end-of-day timesheets.
Breaks, notes and expenses can also be logged directly from the job — see "Logging notes, expenses and breaks on a job".
Where time data is used
The recorded delivery time is stored on the job and visible in the job detail panel on both mobile and web. Operators can review time data to track crew efficiency and use it when preparing invoices for time-based billing.
Start the timer as soon as you arrive at the pickup location and stop it once the last item is delivered. This gives the most accurate picture of actual job duration for future scheduling estimates.
