Viewing the estimate on mobile

The read-only Estimate screen — pricing mode, total, logistics, materials and bundles, in the crew's pocket.

Updated 11 September 2026 · 3 min read

Crews used to arrive knowing the address and not much else. The Estimate screen puts the quote itself on the phone — what was priced, how, and on what assumptions.

Getting there

Open a job and tap the Estimate strip. It's always there, whatever your estimate-preview setting is.

If the job has no estimate, the screen says so — estimates are created in the office on the job's Estimate tab.

What's on it

The total, up top. Labelled Fixed price or Estimated total depending on how the job is priced, with a pill showing the mode: Fixed price, Hourly or Hybrid. Under it, the shape of the number — 3 men × 4–6 h, plus any fixed extras on a hybrid job. Then the rate: the hourly rate on an hourly job, or on a fixed-price job the derived crew rate the flat price works out to.

Logistics. Start and end windows, advised load, vehicle capacity — the practical assumptions the price was built on.

Crew and time. How many people and how long the job was quoted for.

Materials and bundles. What was quoted, with bundles shown as their fixed amount.

The screen is read-only — it says so on the header. Nothing here can be edited from the truck; the estimate is changed in the office web app. What the crew records on the day goes on the Tally, which is a separate thing.

Why it matters on the truck

The estimate is the conversation the customer had with your office. Having it in hand means:

  • The crew knows whether they're on the clock or on a flat price — which changes how they answer "can you just also take the shed stuff?"
  • The quoted hours are visible, so a job running long is noticed at hour four rather than at invoicing.
  • The quoted materials are visible, so the crew brings them.

On a fixed-price job, the derived crew rate is the number to watch. If the job is quoted at an implied $110/hr and it's taking twice as long as quoted, that's a $55/hr job — and it's worth a call to the office while the truck is still there, not a discussion next week.

Getting it onto the tally

On Tally & payment there's an Import estimate option that brings the quoted pricing across as tally lines, rather than the crew retyping it. The preview shows what will be created, lets you pick which cost item represents labour, lets you edit the fixed charge, and compares the import total against the estimate so you can see if they differ. See bundles and costs on the tally.

Long notes

While you're on the job screen: job notes, the item list and contact notes now collapse after about 500 characters with a Show more toggle. A customer who wrote three paragraphs about their piano no longer pushes everything else off the screen.
